Beit Midrash "Belibenu" was founded by youth from "IGY - Israel Gay Youth" for LGBTQ+ youth who saw that many LGBTQ+ people didn't have a safe and open place that they could learn in. To solve this problem, we founded the beit midrash, a place in which one can learn and teach, ask and answer, in an open and halachic environment.

Why do we need a LGBTQ+ beit midrash?

The relationship between religious communities and places of learning and LGBTQ+ people is complex, so many people can find it difficult to find an open and comfortable place where they can learn and connect to Judaism.
One of our goals is to establish a precedent for open places of learning, that don't exclude people who just want to learn and to connect.
